Festive Traditions at JA Manafaru

The award-winning private island in the Maldives' most northerly atoll, JA Manafaru gives festive celebrations a whole new meaning, where the sun's warmth replaces the log in the fireplace and barefoot beauty sets the tone for both Christmas and New Year's celebrations. This year's menu focuses on the cultural flavors of the location, as Haa Alifu is considered the archipelago's historical and cultural capital.
With the first launch of the island in 2014, a tradition of turning on the festive lights at the island's oldest Banyan Tree has been continued. This magical experience contributes to the island's theme, which is celebrated with bubbles and canapés, as well as joyful festive music from the resident musicians.
Indulge in a selection of the world's finest cheeses and wines, accompanied by the resident musical trio, in the garden of Maldives' first and still deepest subterranean wine cave. Despite his hectic schedule, Santa Claus will come to visit you on the island. Keep an eye on the water to see if you can spot him. He'll be on his way to meet you and find out if you've been good or bad this year!
Hosted by one of our Maldivian island Elders, who will lead you on a night walk to a secluded area of the beach where he will tell you Maldivian stories from long ago. Discover authentic Maldivian cuisine prepared with the freshest local ingredients and fish cooked on a traditional sand barbecue. A light performance of traditional Maldivian stick dance, known as 'Dhandi Jehun,' will round out the evening.
An eclectic array of culinary creations and experiences will take you across the island before arriving at Kakuni for the main event, giving your New Year a unique flavor. Food, wine, music, and dance are the ideal ingredients for a New Year's Eve dinner and party on the beach.
